Club Notices - Summer Training

There will be no more summer training at Woodgreen Leisure Centre as the pool closes this week. Training on Wednesday evenings will be back at Spiceball Leisure Centre from 7:15pm - 8:15pm.

Club Notices - Open Weekend

Banbury Swimming Club will be holding time trials to celebrate two years to go until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games! The session will run for an hour from 10:00 am on Saturday 24th July at Spiceball Leisure Centre. It is free and open to members of the public who would like to come and have a try!

During the summer holidays (from 28th July), Wednesday evening training will be held at Woodgreen Leisure Centre from 7:15-8:15pm. This session is open to all swimmers.

From 19th July there will be an additional training session on a Monday evening from 7:00-8:00pm at Woodgreen Leisure Centre. This session is open to swimmers from lanes 1-2 who attend the early session on Thursday, and all swimmers who attend the later session.

Elliott Franklin achieved personal bests and won gold medals in 4/4 events in the AVSC Summer Open Meet. Robert Cross and Adrian Sureshkumar also achieved silver medals in the 100m Butterfly.

Banbury Swimming Club secured 3rd place in Division 2 of the Chilterns League, after a very tight gala in Milton Keynes. With 10 races remaining, Banbury were only 1 point behind the team in 2nd place. Unfortunately we were just edged into 5th place by a single point at the end. Despite not having a full team, our swimmers achieved 6 first and 7 second place finishes, as well as 4 swims that were 'too fast'. Congratulations to all our swimmers for a great result in the league!

Fourteen swimmers from Banbury took part in the Witney & District Level 4 Open Meet. It was a very successful meet for the club with swimmers achieving 26 personal best times and collecting a haul of medals: 7 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.

Results have been added for the second round of the Chilterns League. Our swimmers achieved 9 first and 10 second place finishes, and personal best times in 23 of the 34 individual events. Congratulations to everyone for finishing the gala in second place!

Results have been added for the Oxford Junior L3 Open Meet. Banbury swimmers recorded 11 personal best times and Joseph Howarth, Robert Cross and Luke Sexton received Bronze medals. Well done to everyone who took part in this meet!

Site Updates - Midland Open Masters Championships Results

Results have been added for the Midland Open Masters Championships. Sarah Wyllie-Howkins won medals in 4 of her 5 events (1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze) and Adrian Sureshkumar picked up a gold medal in the 200m Butterfly. We really enjoyed the day and look forward to more Masters swimmers from Banbury taking part next year!

Banbury Swimming Club is looking into running a club timekeepers course in the new year.
It is important for the club to have qualified timekeepers in order to host competitions, such as the club championships.
Being a timekeeper is an excellent way to help out the club on an occasional basis.
If you are would like to find out more, please register your interest with Sue by the end of January.

Cries of Rooney, Rooney were heard in Leighton Buzzard last Saturday. No this was not a guest appearance by Manchester United's Wayne but Banbury swimmer Sophie Rooney who took two first places for the club in their Home Counties League gala at Leighton Buzzard.
