Gala DetailsThe Club take part of a range of galas and events. The fixture list is available via the link on the left of the page. The fixture list will be updated throughout the year as details of galas and Open Meets are confirmed by the host club. The fixture list refers to different types of galas. What are these? The club take part in both league galas, friendly galas, Open Meets and Championship events such as the Oxon & North Bucks County Championships. A detailed explanation of the different types of gala that you may experience can be found above. So you have been picked for the team. Your name is on the team list what do you do next. Firstly indicate by putting a tick against your name that you are able to swim. If you are unable to swim then cross your name through. Be aware of the club rule though that failure to swim at galas, when selected, may make you ineligible to compete in the Club Championship. If you cant swim because you are ill or genuinely not available explain why to Sue so that she knows why. Sue will hand you a gala slip. On this will be the date of gala, the location of the gala, the time and location that the team coach will depart and the time the warm up starts. For most galas there is a team coach. If you wish to make your own way to the gala again mark this on the team list on the notice board so that the coach does not sit waiting for you at the departure point. Make sure you have all your kit properly packed in your swim bag. A list of kit that you will need can be found above. Make sure that you bring the coach fare. This is usually £2.50 per person. Parents are always welcome to travel on the team coach as the more support the team gets the better. A team coach is not usually provided for Open meets and Championship events unless publicised. Swimmers are responsible for getting to the these events and home again. |
